Use cases
For freelance graphic and product designers
Design work is scoped in good faith and delivered after eleven rounds. The fix is not a better client, it is a written scope, a defined number of approvals and a record of both - which is what this gives you.
Concepts, final artwork and source files, kept apart
Projects start with Concepts, Final Artwork and Source Files as separate deliverable sets. Source files can stay view-only, or unreleased entirely, until the invoice is settled.
Scope it in writing, then point at it
Send a statement of work for signature from a link. When round nine arrives, the scope is a signed document with a timestamp rather than a paragraph in an email thread you would have to go and find.
Approvals on the record
Each handover can require sign-off. The client's acceptance is stored with their name and the time, which is what turns "can we just tweak" into a change request with a price.
Bill the revisions you agreed to bill
Log the hours against the task. Unbilled time queues up at your rate and lands on the next invoice, so out-of-scope work is charged rather than quietly donated.
Common questions
- Can I hold back source files until I am paid?
- Yes. Deliverable sets are shared individually and downloads are a switch per set, so finals can go out while source files wait.
