Use cases

For virtual assistants

A retainer is a fixed fee against an unfixed amount of work, and the overrun is invisible until it has been happening for months. The only defence is counting.

Retainers, with a start date

Pick Virtual assistant in settings and jobs become retainers. Weekly summary and Handover notes are offered as starting sets.

Counting is the whole point

Log hours against the retainer as you work. At renewal you have a real number for what each month cost you, instead of a feeling that it was busy - and if you bill hourly, unbilled time drops straight onto the invoice.

Weekly summaries they can find

Put the summary in the portal rather than in an email. Over a year that becomes a record of what the retainer bought, at an address that has not moved.

Handover notes, signed off

When a piece of work ends, share the handover notes and ask for approval. A name and a timestamp against it is what stops it being reopened in three weeks.

Common questions

Can one client have more than one retainer?
Yes. Each retainer keeps its own hours, deliverables and invoices, and they all show up in that client's portal.
